Time Off from Practice
Mom scrambled to take me to the vet this past thursday night after finding a lump on my neck. The vet said it was a sebaceous cyst most likely caused by an infected hair folicle. Mom was relieved b/c this is actually quite common in canines like me. But unfortunately, I won’t be able to practice with my teamates tonight b/c I’m wearing a clown collar so I don’t scratch the area and make it worse! I’m gonna miss the practice time – I really enjoyed last week. I got to do a run with my teamates and I got timed too!
Checking out the Competition
Last weekend, my Mom and I traveled to see a flyball competition. I’m not quite at the level to compete with the team, but I went along anyway so that I could get a sense of the atmosphere. (I loved watching the other dogs race down the lane!) And I didn’t seem to mind traveling back and forth in the new crate Mom bought me, so that was good news. While I spent most of my time in my crate, my Mom helped out recording the flyball times. I think she learned a lot that day, too.
The team did very well – placing second in their division! My job for now is to work on getting consistent clean runs when I go to practice. Now that’s a challenge!
I was promoted!
Yesterday was an exciting time at flyball practice. I did two or three clean runs in a row. Mom was happy about this because I had skipped practice the weekend before. At the end of practice, one of the leaders asked my Mom if I could come to the 7:30 pm practice next week. This means I get to practice with the competition team. I can’t wait!
My First Clean Run
I reached a major milestone yesterday at flyball practice. All the parts came together – I caught the ball off the flyball box and I jumped over all four jumps. My mom was so proud to see me do two clean runs in a row. It was a great day for me because I achieved my goal. Next practice, I’m gonna see if I can do three clean runs in a row. It’s all about baby steps…
Progress: One Jump at a Time
I had a great time at Flyball practice last night! My Mom had been gone all day, so I had a lot of pent up energy by evening when it came time for practice. I hit the box, did a tight swimmer’s turn, and jumped over TWO jumps with the tennis ball still in my mouth. That’s a personal best for me!
